PRESS RELEASE - Deaccessioning Update

Thirty-one lots of Chinese export porcelain were sold as part of Sotheby’s “A Celebration of the English Country House Auction” on April 4. This sale of approximately 100 items produced $195,500.

On May 17 at Sotheby’s, 14 works of African, Oceanic, and Pre-Columbian Art were sold for a total of $6,723,920. The top-selling objects were the Benin Head of an Oba from Nigeria for $4,744,000 and an Aztec stone figure of Chalchiuhtlicue for $1,216,000.

Ten American Indian art objects, including Mimbres bowls, Zuni jars, and Navajo blankets, were sold on May 18 earning $112,320.

The result for the five auctions held thus far is $32,455,000 (including the buyer's premium).
