| Acknowledgements ................................................................................................................... Any New Room of Contemporary Art project is the work of many hands. I want to thank Douglas Schultz, Director, for introducing me to the work of Eugène Leroy. Our library staff, Janice Lurie, Librarian, Tara Reise, Assistant Librarian, and Susan Kelleher, Library Assistant, with the help of Sarah Hoffman, Curatorial Intern, as usual rose to the difficult task of researching the bibliography of a man who has been exhibiting for more than sixty years. Holly Hughes, Curatorial Assistant, has been unwavering in her support of numerous details. Betsy McCall, Editor of Publications, is in large part responsible for making this brochure the beautiful document that it is. I am also greatly indebted to my dear colleagues Sarah Bollinger and Kate Sutherland Ruml for their thoughts on the essay. And finally, this exhibition would not have been possible without the support of the artist and the Michael Werner Gallery, New York. C.S. ................................................................................................................... The New Room of Contemporary Art exhibition series takes its name from a fund established in 1939 to acquire contemporary art for the Gallery's permanent collection, and continues the Gallery's commitment to showing significant new art in Buffalo. ...................................................................................................................
