Fresh: Recent Acquisitions
September 8 - October 21, 2001

Following in the legendary footsteps of its generous benefactor Seymour H. Knox, the Albright-Knox Gallery continues to acquire contemporary works of art while, as the saying goes, "the paint is still fresh." The Albright-Knox has established its world-renowned reputation by collecting significant works before their place in the history of art has been determined. This exhibition highlighted more than sixty works that the Gallery has acquired in the last four years. Works included paintings, sculpture, photographs, prints, and drawings by artists such as Cecily Brown, Malcolm Morley, Sigmar Polke, Gerhard Richter, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Sharon Lockhart, Mark Francis, Inka Essenhigh, Cathy de Monchaux, Sam Taylor-Wood, John Coplans, Yayoi Kusama, Doris Salcedo, and Olafur Elliasson.
