A majority of the Gallery’s collection was bought while still “fresh,” within a few years of the work’s creation. A quick comparison of the two dates provided on the museum's object labels bears this out. The first, next to the title of the work, indicates the year the work was made. The second, next to the fund used for the work’s purchase, is the year that the work entered the Gallery's collection.
