In keeping with colloquial uses of the word, “fresh,” much of the work collected here takes a particularly flirtatious look at the past. The work seduces the viewer with beautiful color, rich materials, and highly inventive compositions and then reveals something more. The significance or pointed commentary of the work may be lurking just under the surface or may become apparent only after careful study.
