To examine the relationship between Julie Mehretu’s work and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery’s permanent collection, Mehretu served as curator of an installation of works from the collection. On view in the galleries adjacent to the special exhibition, Artist’s Eye on the Collection: Julie Mehretu was the first in a series of permanent collection exhibitions selected by contemporary artists.

This interactive space organized by Assistant Curator of Education Kathy Gaye Shirocki, was designed to complement the special exhibition. Write a story about a time and place that stands out in your memory and share it with others. If you stand at the podium and read it into the microphone, you will not only be heard by other visitors in the interactive space, but also by patrons at Sport Coffee on Elmwood Avenue! Later, go to Spot Coffee and listen to stories written by others.
