Cover to Cover: Works and Words at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery

Cover to Cover: Works and Words at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery explored the relationship between the written word and the artistic image by examining themes that highlight the variety of forms and media used in the production of contemporary “works on paper.” The works in this exhibition ranged from artists books and photography to etchings and lithography. Drawing from the Gallery’s permanent collection and library holdings, this exhibition presented a selection of works by artists who engage in the creation of visual and narrative “texts” that link the painted world with the printed word.

Co-organized by Project Curator Holly E. Hughes and Head of Research Resources Susana Tejada, Cover to Cover underscored the Gallery’s commitment to serve as a learning laboratory for students seeking to learn more about museum practice. For a second year, students from Canisius College helped organize the exhibition in close collaboration with Albright-Knox professionals by conducting research, writing wall texts, and choosing objects featured in the installation.
