Art with Artists Classes

Ages 4–18

Spring 2012 Session

Encourage your child’s love of art with our Art with Artists classes. In each of these classes, taught by local artists and arts educators, students will visit works in the Gallery and create hands-on art projects—including drawings, paintings, prints, and sculptures—in the classroom.

Classes are limited to twenty students. Registration and pre-payment are required. The deadline to register for the spring 2012 session is Friday, February 24, 2012. To register, please call 716.270.8292, or complete and mail the Program Registration Form. Confirmation of registration will be sent by email one week before class begins.

Explore Art

(Age 4–Kindergarten)
Saturdays, March 3, 10, 17, and 24, 2012, 10–11 am
$60 for Members / $80 for non-members
Children will learn about art as they explore the Gallery and use a variety of fun materials to make artful creations of their own.

Adventures in Art

(Grades 1–2)
Saturdays, March 3, 10, 17, and 24, 2012, 10–11 am
$60 for Members / $80 for non-members
Students will journey through the Gallery and return to the classroom to create works inspired by what they see.

Experience Art

(Grades 3–5)
Saturdays, March 3, 10, 17, and 24, 2012, 11:30 am–1 pm
$65 for Members / $85 for non-members
Students will learn about various artistic techniques and methods as they create art inspired by works from the Gallery’s Collection.

Drawing Studio

(Grades 6–8)
Saturdays, March 3, 10, 17, and 24, 2012, 11:30 am–1 pm
$65 for Members / $85 for non-members
Students will learn drawing techniques in a variety of media—including pencil, charcoal, and pastels—using works in the Gallery’s Collection as inspiration.

Winter 2012 Session

Play Art

(Ages 4–Kindergarten)

Children will learn to engineer artworks from their imagination, create their own toys, and experiment, with inspiration from the galleries.

Avant-garde for Kids

(Grades 1–2)

Get creative with unusual materials and bizarre techniques and discover what can happen through the wonderful process of experimentation.

Sculpture 101

(Grades 3–5)
Saturdays, January 14, 21, 28, February 4, 11, and 18, 2012, 11:30 am–1 pm
$70 for Members / $90 for non-members
Students will explore clay sculpting, ceramic hand building, and the basics of three-dimensional art.

Innovations in Art

(Grades 6–8)
Saturdays, January 14, 21, 28, February 4, 11, and 18, 2012, 11:30 am–1 pm
$70 for Members / $90 for non-members
Explore innovative techniques and materials in the art of drawing, including pencil, charcoal, Conté crayon, and pastels.
