Security Shift Leader
The Security Shift Leader reports directly to the Head of Security.
- Coordinate work shift operations to include assigning security officers to conduct patrols (facility inspections) or staff a stationary post-of-duty (POD).
- Supervise security officers engaged in carrying out their critical responsibilities, and special event security operations, by frequently touring their workspaces.
- Ensure that all officers present an appropriate uniform and neatly groomed appearance, are properly equipped to do their job, conduct themselves properly, and maintain an orderly and clean workspace.
- Review shift reports, activities log, and other documents to ensure content accuracy and completeness.
- When necessary, engage in staffing and operational problem-solving.
- Complete any additional tasks or details as assigned by the Head of Security and Safety Services.
- Promptly respond to officer reports (oral and written) of violations of Gallery security policies and procedures and life safety hazards. Refer such reports to staff responsible for remedial action, or, when necessary, initiate immediate remedial action.
- Promptly respond personally to customer calls-for-services, complaints, and concerns, or ensure that the response by officers under your supervision is prompt and effective.
- Wear a proper uniform and maintain a neatly groomed appearance and a clean and orderly workspace, at all times, as an example to the officers under the Shift Leader’s supervision.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to develop a good working knowledge of key duties and responsibilities listed above
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Proven decision-making skills
- Ability to provide field-level training (coaching) to officers, as necessary
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- A high school diploma or equivalency certificate is required. A college degree is preferred.
- Must have three or more years related security experience
- Must be eighteen years of age or older, and meet employment qualifications in accordance with the New York State Security Guard Act of 1992.
