Museum Internship Program

The Museum Internship Program at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery is designed to provide experience and exposure to professional work in a museum environment to undergraduate and graduate students. Internships are available throughout the school year, as well as during the summer. Under the supervision of a department head and key staff members, interns will participate in daily administrative and research activities conducive to their academic and professional growth. Students who wish to obtain academic credit for their internship must make their own arrangements with their college or university.

INTERNSHIP POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

Academic Year Internships

Interns are accepted twice during the year, in a fall and a spring session. Work hours are flexible to accommodate class schedules; however, interns are required to work a minimum of eight hours a week and must complete at least 90 hours during the internship session. The deadline for Fall Session internship applications is July 15, and October 31 for Spring Session internships.

Summer Internships

The Museum Internship Program Summer Session runs from June through August and begins with a comprehensive museum orientation. In addition to assigned internship duties, attempts will be made to introduce students to various aspects of museum work. Interns are required to work at least 120 hours during the course of the summer internship. The deadline for Summer Session applications is March 15.

Prospective interns are asked to submit an application, which includes a standardized application form, a résumé/C.V., an essay, official academic transcripts, and two academic recommendations. Selected applicants will then be interviewed and considered for placement based on the needs of the Gallery as well as the candidate's interests and experience.
