The CIA later informs her that her late husband was a suspect in an investigation for $250,000 in gold stolen from the U.S. government during World War II. Now, the government wants it back and it is only with the help of her new friend Peter Joshua (Cary Grant) that Regina has a chance of finding the money. Thus begins an elaborate “charade” in which nothing is what it seems to be.
