Death Row with Bruce Jackson and Diane Christian
Bruce Jackson, Buffalo-based photographer, filmmaker, and folklorist and his wife and fellow filmmaker Diane Christian explore the world of prisoners under sentences of death when they discuss and screen their film Death Row (59 minutes) in conjunction with Jackson’s exhibition Cummins Wide: Photographs from the Arkansas State Prison, on view at the Gallery until May 10. Following the screening of the film, there will be a brief discussion and a question-and-answer session.

This panel discussion addressing postwar American art from varied perspectives—cultural, socio-political, and art historical—is moderated by Chief Curator Douglas Dreishpoon, a consulting curator and essayist for the project.  Panelists include Michael Brenson, critic, art historian, and teacher; Richard Shiff, Professor of Art and Art History at the University of Texas at Austin; Robert Hobbs, Professor of Art History at Virginia Commonwealth University; and Katy Siegel, Professor of Art History at Hunter College.
