Nickel City Poetry Slam with Slam Poet Tom Noy
As one half of Chief Rocka Entertainment, Tom Noy reigns supreme as poet, photographer, fashion stylist, DJ, and director. He was the slam master for the Cleveland National Poetry Slam Team, which finished fourth overall at the Group Piece showcase at this year’s Nationals. After Noy’s performance, the hottest local spoken word artists will compete for a $25 cash prize and a chance to perform with Buffalo’s own Poetry Slam Teams.
Sign up begins at 7 pm on a first-come, first-served basis.
The NickelCity Poetry Slam series is funded, in part, by the New YorkState Council on the Arts Literature Program.

Performance: Buffers and Blue Chips
Join us for a memorable musical treat as two nationally recognized, all male student a cappella groups perform together for the first time: the Hamilton College Buffers and the University at Buffalo Blue Chips. Anything is possible with the Buffers, with their brash sense of humor and outstanding musical talent, who are known to perform everything from Jessie’s Girl to Walking in Memphis. The Blue Chips, recently recognized at the ICCA Quarterfinals for best choreography and best arrangements, sing everything from rock to pop to jazz and funk, including What Goes Around Comes Around and Crazy Little Thing Called Love. The Blue Chips will open the concert at 7:30 pm, with the Buffers set to take the stage immediately following at 8:30 pm.

Art Activity: Parading Puppets and Noisemakers
Create noisemakers and wearable puppets with artist and puppeteer Kyla Kegler. Kegler designed many of the life-sized puppets that were featured in this year’s Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts Kidsfest parade.

Just as the red violin followed a long and interesting path, so do many works of art. Join Curator of Education Mariann Smith for a brief talk on an art topic related to the film.

With Special Guest: Producer Niv Fichman.
A perfect violin inspires musicians and collectors alike, in a story that spans three centuries and five countries. Producer Niv Fichman will introduce the film and answer questions from the audience following the screening.
Easel Hour at muse will feature drink specials and appetizers at the bar from 5 to 6 pm.
Don’t miss a second viewing on Saturday at the AuroraTheatre in East Aurora. The talk will begin at noon, followed by the film at 12:30 pm.

With Thanksgiving around the corner, there’s no better way to kick off the holiday season than with this classic, Academy Award-winning film. Noted as “the classic tale of whether Santa Claus is real,” the story unfolds at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
