POParazzi Is Just One Week Away!
June 13, 2013
On June 20, 2013, the Albright-Knox will present POParazzi!, a massive fundraising party to celebrate the special exhibition Sweet Dreams Baby! Life of Pop, London to Warhol. More than 1,000 people will gather at the museum to experience the art and culture of the 1960s.
Visitors will have the chance to see the exhibition that inspired this year’s event. The Albright-Knox is home to one of the world’s leading collections of Pop art, with works by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Claes Oldenburg. The exhibition will be open all night, giving guests the opportunity to mingle with their favorite Pop masterpieces for an unforgettable evening.
Outside, guests will walk the red carpet, swarmed by paparazzi, as they make their way into the Silver Factory. Our emcee for the evening, Janet Snyder, will be on hand to interview partygoers and Nicholas Picholas of Kiss 98.5 will be spinning the best music of the 1960s on the dance floor. We’ll also toast to the eleventh director of the Albright-Knox, Janne Sirén, and his wife Sonja, as we welcome them to Buffalo.
There will be surprises all night long from Tony Walker & Co., who will also have a pop-up shop featuring jewelry from the Modern Luxuri collection and Andy Warhol Bond perfumes. The AK Pop Shop will have many great items available as well, including Pop art–inspired bags from Jump from Paper.
The Albright-Knox is thrilled to have Rich’s Catering & Special Events as the Presenting Sponsor for POParazzi! Using the food of the 1960s as inspiration, Rich’s will present an extraordinary culinary flashback with a modern influence. Come and feast on Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup Pipettes, deconstructed Beef Wellington, brightly colored French Macarons, and much more.
POParazzi! is the kick-off event to the summer; we invite everyone to come to the Albright-Knox on June 20 to experience all things Pop! Tickets to this fundraising celebration are $150 each, or $125 for Members. Rsvp to 716.270.8274, or firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also purchase tickets online.
All proceeds benefit the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
