Captured: Artist-in-Residence Art Activities

December 18, 2012

Participants show off the bundle and related drawings they created in the Artist-in-Residence art activity on December 7, 2012.

As part of the 2012–2013 Artist-in-Residence program, the Gallery is hosting a series of related drop-in art activities during M&T FIRST FRIDAYS @ THE GALLERY.

On October 5, Starlight Studio artists helped participants create their own imagined homes from rubbings of house components. On November 2, participants created imagined houses from roofing materials, cardboard “pipes,” wood, and other building materials. Artist-in-Residence Dennis Maher was on hand to explain the project to workshop participants. On December 7, participants wrapped recycled materials with masking tape to create bundles, then cut the bundles in half and translated the three-dimensional objects into drawings.
