Spring Preview: M&T FIRST FRIDAYS @ THE GALLERY
March 23, 2012
The Albright-Knox has a lot of exciting special events planned for M&T FIRST FRIDAYS @ THE GALLERY this spring.
On Friday, April 6, enjoy a family performance with Defiant Monkey Improv, a two-person improvisational group that creates on-the-spot theater based on audience suggestions. Later that evening, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will present Dvorák’s American Style, a fascinating look into the American influences on the classical composer Antonín Dvorák.
On Friday, May 4, join us for a celebration of the special exhibition Wish You Were Here: The Buffalo Avant-garde in the 1970s, with an evening of film screenings, performances, lectures, and more. You can also tour the newly opened 2012 Future Curators exhibition, composed of artwork created by area high school students and organized by participants in the Gallery’s Future Curators teen program.
On Friday, June 1, celebrate the best in Irish filmmaking with the sixth annual Cinegael Film Festival, presented by riverrun and Cinegael Buffalo. Also that night, enjoy a family performance with Young Audiences of Western New York—professional storyteller Gretchen Murray Sepik will present “Erie Canal Sal,” weaving Irish folk tales into facts about the Erie Canal.
We will also be hosting our monthly artist-hosted art activity and art classes, including a new Toddler Art Class at lunchtime.
We hope to see you at the Gallery soon!
The museum is closed. Please visit us tomorrow between 10 am and 5 pm.
