Share Your Love of Art: New Volunteer Docent Class to Begin in September

April 20, 2012

Are you looking for an exciting way to challenge yourself, learn something new, and share your love of art? Every two years, a class of dedicated individuals learns about art history, the Gallery’s ever-growing Collection, and techniques to engage visitors in inspiring conversations in front of works of art. These individuals become special volunteers, called docents, who are responsible for giving tours to more than 20,000 people a year—18,000 of them young people who visit through our Art’scool program.

Graduates of our docent program join a vibrant group who continue to further their knowledge about art and the Gallery through a continuing series of training sessions. We are accepting applications for the next docent class now and will begin interviews soon.

For more information about the dates and requirements of the program, as well as an application, please visit our Docent Program page.
