The Honorable Bruce J. Oreck, United States Ambassador to Finland, to Speak to Members at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery on Sunday

Buffalo, NY – The Albright-Knox Art Gallery will be hosting a talk by the Honorable Bruce J. Oreck, United States Ambassador to Finland, on Sunday May 12, 2013, at 4 pm, in the Gallery’s Auditorium. Ambassador Oreck will speak to Gallery Members on new museum technologies and the role of culture in economic development. Members will also have the opportunity to meet the Albright-Knox’s new director, Janne Sirén, who recently arrived from Helsinki to assume his post.

Ambassador Oreck and Dr. Sirén became colleagues and friends through their shared interests in the outdoors, creativity, climate change, new museum technologies, and the role of culture in economic development. A lively, well-informed, and engaging speaker, H.E. Ambassador Oreck will give a presentation that is not to be missed. After the talk, wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served in AK Café at a member reception in honor of the ambassador, and to welcome Janne Sirén as the eleventh director of the Gallery.

Bruce Oreck was sworn in as U.S. Ambassador to Finland on August 12, 2009. Ambassador Oreck has a diverse and encompassing background. Born and raised in New York City, Oreck also lived in New Orleans, Louisiana, for many years and, prior to moving to Helsinki, was a long-time resident of Boulder, Colorado.
