Lecture
Exploring Feelings: Focus on German Expressionism
With Curator of Education Mariann Smith
Tuesday, December 4, 2012, 11:30 am–12:15 pm
FREE as part of Founders' Week
Join Curator of Education Mariann Smith for a talk about German Expressionist works in the Albright-Knox's Collection.
How does an artist express the idea of war without actually showing one? What is it like to be alone in a crowded room? How do you describe the face of an avenger? These questions will all be answered through the works of Franz Marc, Max Beckmann, and Ernst Barlach. We will also explore the work of other artists living during and between the two World Wars.
