Lecture
Playing with Your Mind: Focus on Surrealism
With Curator of Education Mariann Smith
Wednesday, December 5, 2012, 11:30 am–12:15 pm
FREE as part of Founders' Week
Join Curator of Education Mariann Smith for a talk about Surrealist works in the Albright-Knox's Collection.
The goal of Surrealist artists like Salvador Dalí, René Magritte, and Joan Miró was to combine the conscious and the unconscious. This resulted in unusual worlds in which things are not always what they seem: Is it a landscape or a still life? What are the large metal spheres floating over the dark mountains? Why is everyone having a good time but Harlequin?
