Hours & Access
The primary mission of the G. Robert Strauss, Jr. Memorial Library is to support the research needs of museum staff and affiliates.
In-person use of the Library is a privilege of museum membership. The Library is open to AK Members by appointment only on Fridays from 3 to 5 pm. Appointments may be made by calling 716.270.8240 at least two days in advance. Please note that Members may not remove materials from the Library.
Non-members with advanced research projects who need access to materials that are unique to the Albright-Knox's Library and Archives may submit research queries via email only to firstname.lastname@example.org. Due to temporary staffing limitations, the Library regrets that it is unable to answer email reference queries that require a substantial amount of research on the part of the Librarian.
Digital access to the Albright-Knox’s Library Collection is provided through AKAT. This online catalogue allows for basic and advanced searching of the Library’s rich and varied holding.
The Library likewise participates in initiatives to make portions of its collections more accessible to the community, including projects to digitize museum publications such as Academy Notes, historic exhibition catalogues, and unique archival materials. The Library reading room offers two terminals with connections to the Internet and access to its online subscription databases.
Materials from Albright Art Gallery exhibitions during the late 1800s and early 1900s may be found on the Albright-Knox’s Flickr page. View Materials
