In conjunction with the exhibition Frank Moore: Green Thumb in a Dark Eden, the interactive space Falling Over You, enticed visitors to investigate Frank Moore's works of art. Upon entering this space, visitors were surrounded by a canopy of birds teetering on electrical telephones wires. This representation of nature as perched on a tightrope of technology echoed Frank Moore's concern for the environment in the face of technological advancement. As visitors moved throughout the space and into another room, they encountered a large, digitized image of Niagara Falls roaring down the walls. Their movement within this space triggered details from Moore's artworks to fall over, across, and float up the Falls, animating the art in the exhibition. When visitors walked close enough to cast a shadow on the wall, Moore's painting Niagara, (1994-95), in the Gallery's permanent collection, revealed itself. Sincere thanks to David Pape and Josephine Anstey at the University at Buffalo for their interactive computer graphics. Attendance: 6001. Made possible through the generous support of |
