In conjunction with the exhibition Edwin Dickinson: Dreams and Realities, this interactive space was inspired by Dickinson's daily ritual of recording his thoughts in journals. Dickinson wrote the time of day he painted, "A.M." or "P.M.", and made notes about the weather, "hard snow", "raining", and "moonlight". He carefully recorded when he had the sniffles, when he cleaned his studio, when he had tea with friends, or took strolls. Visitors could share their daily thoughts and observations by recording them in an assortment of journals. Each journal asked a question to organize a theme for each book. The orange stairs in the space were influenced by Dickinson's work Ruin at Daphne, 1943-53. The stairs became a place for visitors to sit, read, reflect, and write.
