Clare Woods draws imagery from natural world, especially the dense imagery of nocturnal forests, as the basis for her psychologically charged landscapes. To create Failed Back's four large-scale photographs, Woods used a flashgun to take random photographs of her snowy nighttime surroundings. The work combines photography and painting to create a bewildering image of mysterious growth.
