On December 15, 1966, the Albright-Knox hosted a Members’ Preview of the newly acquired Mirrored Room with artist Lucas Samaras in attendance. The work almost immediately became a visitor favorite. One 1966 newspaper columnist summarized the encounter as “an experience not soon forgotten. How often can we step into a work of art and become both spectator and participant?”
