About the Teacher

Kari Achatz is a visual artist and art educator in Buffalo who teaches grades 5–8 at Nichols Middle School. She has a BS in Art Education from Daemen College and an MS in Art Education from Buffalo State. Achatz has a minor in painting from Daemen College but primarily works with photography. She has exhibited works of art all over Western New York. Achatz has two photo sculptures—Urban Resurgence, 2018, and Parsing Dreams, 2017—in the collection of the Albright-Knox.
