Artwork by participant of Access AK: Creative Connection

Inspired Perspectives: An Access AK Artist Exhibition is composed of artworks created through the Access AK programs Creative ConnectionVeterans Connecting through Art, and Verbal Description Sensory Tours. Access AK provides enriching experiences to visitors with varied abilities. Each program is uniquely designed to provide an opportunity for participants to express themselves both verbally and nonverbally in the art museum environment.

Access AK programs offer customized tours of the museum’s Collection, which are followed by hands-on art workshops. Access AK: Creative Connection enables and encourages individuals with disabilities to attend through group-based participation. Access AK: Veterans Connecting through Art provides in depth sessions that focus on the expressive components of visual art. Verbal Description Sensory Tours are for individuals who are blind or partially sighted and are enhanced by engaging several senses, often including, but not limited to, the sense of touch.

The Albright-Knox’s Collection offers endless inspiration for Access AK participants. Concentrated focus is given to a few select works during each tour. The artworks exhibited in Inspired Perspectives offer insight into the creative process participants encountered in the museum as well as the classroom.

Admission to this exhibition is free on M&T FIRST FRIDAYS @ THE GALLERY.
