POParazzi! was the place to see and be seen on Thursday, June 20. This year’s summer fundraiser was beyond fabulous, with more than 1,000 guests enjoying their fifteen minutes of fame. POParazzi! celebrated the special exhibition Sweet Dreams, Baby! Life of Pop, London to Warhol and all things Pop.
Guests walked the red carpet, swarmed by paparazzi; explored Life of Pop; hung out in the Silver Lounge; shopped at the AK Pop Shop and Tony Walker & Co.’s pop-up shop, and danced the night away to the music of the 1960s, spun by Nicholas Picholas of Kiss 98.5. One lucky winner also went home with a Robert Rauschenberg triptych lithograph.
The evening’s fab fare—including Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup (of course) and Pop “Couture” Rainbow Jell-O—was generously provided by Presenting Sponsor Rich’s Catering & Special Events, and beverages—including the signature Double Cross Vodka Gimlet—were generously provided by North American Breweries and Southern Wine & Spirits.
The Albright-Knox extends its appreciation to event chairs Jennifer and Teo Balbach, Melissa Balbach and John Bace, Michelle Carr and Matt Goldman, and Nancy and Greg Stevens; emcee Janet Synder and DJ Nicholas Picholas of Kiss 98.5; and everyone who came and helped us kick off another great summer. The evening would not have been possible without our many corporate sponsors and special friends.
Sweet Dreams, Baby! Life of Pop, London to Warhol is on view at the Albright-Knox through Sunday, September 8, 2013. We also hope to see you again in June 2014 for our next massive summer celebration!
The museum is closed. Please visit us tomorrow between 10 am and 5 pm.
