Winners of Virtual Art Alive 2020 Announced

Friday, May 8, 2020

Buffalo, NY – Today the Albright-Knox announced the winners of the Virtual Art Alive 2020 contest, chosen from nearly 300 submissions. Every year, the museum invites everyone—students, community groups, organizations, households, and individuals—to make live re-creations of works of art for great prizes. While this annual contest normally takes place outside, this year, as we practice social distancing, the museum brought it online. Participants built their stunning replicas—often called tableaux—using people, props, and their creativity.

“We were thrilled to see the final number of Art Alive submissions we received this year,” said Jennifer Foley, Albright-Knox Director of Education and Community Engagement. “With social distancing guidelines in place, we were happy to be able to continue this great event for the sake of our community. We received submissions that ranged from hilarious to stunning, and we are delighted that this may have provided some stress relief during this difficult time.”

Winning entries can be found at www.albrightknox.org/artalive.

Art Alive 2020 is made possible through the generosity of the French American Museum Exchange.
