Performance: Gabriella & Vincent Barber Duo
Friday, January 3, 2014, 8:30 pm
FREE for Members / $5 for non-members
Join us for an evening of music with the Gabriella & Vincent Barber Duo. Similarities between jazz and classical music might not seem apparent, but an evening of music by Richard Wagner, Claude Debussy, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, and others might prove otherwise as soprano Gabriella and pianist Vincent Barber perform with brief introductions for each piece.
Gabrielle Carlo (Gabriella) received her M.A. in Musicology from the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College and her B.A. in Vocal Performance from Buffalo State College. She is currently pursuing a Master of Library and Information Science degree with a specialization in Music Librarianship/Archives from the University at Buffalo, and teaches music history at Buffalo State College. As a vocalist, within the classical and jazz realms, she incorporates music history into her performances by providing historical introductions to the vocalists and composers she interprets, which emphasizes the way that research can enrich a performance.
