Friday, March 4, 2011, 5 pm
This documentary explores the history of Flamenco arts in the United States, focusing on migration and cultural identity. It provides an historical overview of the complicated structures that have brought the sorrowful expression of an oppressed group of people in Southern Spain to the United States. It also introduces the colorful characters who carry this art form forward in the United States, including the legendary figure Jose Greco, who toured the country with his renowned Flamenco company for forty years.
