Join Cathleen Chaffee, Charles Balbach Chief Curator and artist Lap-See Lam in conversation with four local Chinese restaurant owners: Jasmine Chen (translator), Fanxu Meng from China Taste, Benjamin Zhang from Main Moon, and Zitao Ni from K BBQ and Hot Pot/King Crab. The group will discuss Lam’s work Dreamers' Quay (2022), their immigrant experiences and family histories, and intergenerational relationships in the Chinese diaspora in Sweden, Western New York, and elsewhere.

Lap-See Lam is an installation artist who lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden. Her work examines issues of identity and cultural constructs through an exploration of the Chinese diaspora in Sweden. Lam frequently draws on her family’s history, such as their experience as restaurant owners in Stockholm. She uses technologies such as virtual reality and 3D scanning to create her immersive installation works.
