John & Mary and the Valkyries is a folk-rock band whose sound is based on the music from both their original compositions and collaborations with 10,000 Maniacs. The group has been performing for seven years to critical acclaim and an ever-growing audience. The band includes Kent Weber, Patrick Kane, Joe Rozler, and Robert Lynch. Together the band draws on many decades of musical experience, combining rock music with distinctive elements of classical, folk, traditional, and reggae. Their unique sound is both timeless and contemporary.
John Lombardo and Mary Ramsey formed their critically acclaimed folk duo John & Mary in 1989. They have recorded for Rykodisc, Geffen, Bar/None, and Elektra Records. John and Mary have toured the world visiting such countries as England, Germany, Holland, Austria, and Brazil, sharing with audiences their original songs with Mary’s voice and viola mixing gently with John’s jangling guitar. They both joined 10,000 Maniacs in 1994, with Mary replacing Natalie Merchant as lead vocalist, and, together with the band, scored a Top 40 hit, “More Than This.” They continue to write and perform their compositions.
