Virocode to Exhibit in the Albright-Knox’s Gallery for New Media: A Disappearance of the Source
The Western New York collaborative duo Virocode will open an exhibition of photographic and video installation work at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery on October 21, 2011. Since 1987, Virocode, has been exploring the intersection of science and popular culture through hybrid uses of video, photography, sculpture, and digital technology.

Victoria Sambunaris: Taxonomy of a Landscape Opens October 21
This comprehensive, ten-year survey of the work of Victoria Sambunaris (American, born 1964) marks the artist’s first solo exhibition at a major American museum. Sambunaris's hauntingly beautiful images reveal a sparse, seemingly limitless landscape and geology, dotted by a human imprint that is distinctly American.

Panel Discussion: Museums and Censorship – September 25 at 2 pm
The Albright Knox Art Gallery, in partnership with the Department of Visual Studies and the Humanities Institute at the University at Buffalo, will present a conversation on the controversy surrounding the recent Smithsonian exhibition Hide/Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture—the first major museum queer exhibition in US history—and the Smithsonian’s decision to remove David Wojnarowicz’s film Fire in My Belly from the exhibition.

SANGHA: An Installation by Kathryn Walker Opens July 22
A stunning new installation by the artist Kathryn Walker will open in the Albright-Knox Art Gallery’s Gallery for Small Sculpture. SANGHA is composed of more than one thousand miniature terracotta pots, each carefully painted and collaged by the artist.

Monumental New Sculpture to be named at Albright-Knox; Landmark Exhibition to open
