Will the Buffalo AKG be open on April 8? 

The Buffalo AKG will be closed on Monday, April 8, in order to allow our staff to experience this once-in-a-lifetime event. You are welcome to experience the eclipse from our grounds, including the Great Lawn along Elmwood Avenue.

Will the Parking Garage be open on April 8? 

Our Parking Garage will be closed on Monday, April 8. Please anticipate significant parking and traffic congestion on the day of the eclipse. 

Can I reserve a spot to view the eclipse? 

The museum will be closed on Monday, April 8. Seating on our grounds is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please bring your own food and beverages—picnics are encouraged! Smoking and vaping are prohibited on museum grounds. Please note the following items that are permitted and not permitted on our grounds:

Lawn chairs 
Blankets 
Umbrellas 

NOT PERMITTED 
Alcohol, illegal drugs/drug paraphernalia 
Weapons, knives, fireworks, or any items deemed dangerous 
Laser pointers 
Air horns 
Video equipment, recording devices, or drones 

Can I get eclipse glasses at the Buffalo AKG? 

We will have a limited number of eclipse glasses for museum visitors at our Visitor Services Desks. Limit one per person, while supplies last. For additional glasses, please check with our community partners at the Buffalo Museum of Science and all branches of the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library

What else is happening nearby on Monday, April 8?

The Richardson Olmsted Campus is hosting a free event, Eclipse Over Elmwood, on Monday, April 8, from 12 to 5 pm.
