We invite educators to apply to be part of a program to develop curricula focusing on The Freedom Wall in summer 2018.
Application Deadline: Tuesday, May 29, 2018
Stipend: $500
The Freedom Wall, installed at the corner of Michigan Avenue and East Ferry Street in Buffalo, features portraits of 28 notable civil rights leaders from America’s past and present, created by Buffalo-based artists John Baker, Julia Bottoms, Chuck Tingley, and Edreys Wajed. The wall, with portraits of both local and national civil rights leaders, offers unique opportunities as an educational tool for teachers of all subject areas.
The Albright-Knox is seeking Western New York K–12 teachers to take part in a program to develop curricula around The Freedom Wall to be shared through the museum’s website with teachers nationally. Teachers will receive professional development credit hours and will also receive a stipend for their participation in the program. We welcome teachers of all subjects—from art to science, and math to social studies—and all grade levels to submit applications to join the Albright-Knox this summer.
