Education Exhibition Hallway

Join us for an exhibition of works created by students in the Albright-Knox’s after-school program, Art on the Go! The featured artworks are by students in grades 2 to 5 from four participating schools: Bennett Park Montessori, Waterfront Elementary School, Discovery School, and Dr. Antonia Pantoja Community School of Academic Excellence.

The artworks featured in this show were created as part of the Albright-Knox’s program, Art on the Go!, which aims to bring greater exposure to the arts through after-school programs throughout Buffalo. Through partnerships with other cultural organizations, including Frank Lloyd Wright’s Martin House Complex and Say Yes to Education—Buffalo, the intent of our program is to engage all students in interdisciplinary projects that focus on the humanities. With the use of visual-thinking strategies, students are invited to interpret—through their own lens—artworks from the Albright-Knox’s collection. Open-ended lesson plans enable them to explore these reflections in the creation of their own unique artworks.

An important priority is to present lessons that support student-driven learning, student autonomy, and independence. Balancing these goals, it is also necessary to foster the qualities of collaboration, communication, and cooperation toward a heightened sense of community in the students.

Admission to this exhibition is free on M&T FIRST FRIDAYS @ THE GALLERY.
