Buffalo, My City premiered the 20 watercolor series by Dr. Lalli, a retired chairman of the art education and mechanical drawing departments of Amherst Central High School.

Dr. Lalli chose the subjects for his realistic renderings of Buffalo architecture based on several criteria including aesthetic qualities, historical significance and architectural importance. Intended to illustrate the personality and beauty of the city of Buffalo, the paintings on view included City Hall, Anchor Bar, Shea’s Buffalo, Home of the Buffalo Bisons, The Buffalo Naval and Servicemen’s Park, and the Dun Building. Lalli’s subjects are visually complex and require considerable technical drawing before various layers of transparent watercolor was applied.

This exhibition was organized by the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
