A student creating artwork during Artpark’s 2017 Artcamp

Education Exhibition Hallway

Materials features artworks created by young artists at Artpark’s Artcamp. Various local artists led multiple week-long sessions; the works featured here were created in sessions led by Conner Caso, Leeann Catanzaro, Francesca D’Angelo, Ani Hoover, Brian Nacov, and Richard Tomasello.

Children ages nine to 14 were welcome to attend this multiple-week series that ran during the month of July 2017 at Artpark. Participants were divided into two age groups, and multiple workshops ran for seven hours each day. The goals of the Artcamp were to allow each child the ability to create in a space that allowed for personal freedom, as well as offered guidance and suggestion, so that young artists could develop mastery of their artistic style and mediums.

Children used materials such raku clay, cardboard, spray paint, deco markers, pencils, yarn, felt, and Great Stuff. Children often demonstrated a sense of pride in their artistic expression and were eager to participate in future art activities.

Admission to this exhibition is free on M&T FIRST FRIDAYS @ THE GALLERY.
