Richard Artschwager (American, 1924–2013) was a versatile sculptor and painter associated with Pop, Optical, Minimalist, and Conceptual art. Richard Artschwager’s Theme(s) featured a wide range of the artist’s paintings, sculptures, and drawings, including his surreal black and white paintings on textured wall coverings and his Formica "furniture."

After its close in Buffalo, this exhibition traveled to the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia, La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston.

This exhibition was organized by Albright-Knox Curator Linda L. Cathcart, Richard Armstrong for the La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art, and Suzanne Delehanty for the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia.
