Technology Today’s Project Snapshot (Education Exhibition)
Wednesday, September 3–Sunday, September 21, 2014
Education Exhibition Hallway
Technology Today is Aspire of Western New York’s innovative, technology-based program that offers a variety of services to people with disabilities according to their unique needs, interests, and abilities. Technology Today’s mission is to provide the opportunity for knowledge and a path to communication for people through training and access to computers and other types of state-of-the-art technologies. Now in its twentieth year, Technology Today is proud to present Project Snapshot.
After being inspired by the 2009 award-winning documentary, Shooting Beauty, Technology Today staff members began adapting digital cameras and teaching photography to a group of people with disabilities. Over the past year and a half, the Project Snapshot participants realized the many benefits of using the art of photography as an avenue of self-expression.
The photographs in this exhibit showcase the latest creative efforts of the Project Snapshot participants. Equipped with basic digital camera and photo composition skills, the photographers were encouraged to use their creative eyes to capture their communities from their own points of view. This exhibition not only represents the natural beauty of Western New York from a variety of perspectives but also the self-advocacy, self-direction, and motivation demonstrated by each photographer.
Admission to this exhibition is free on M&T FIRST FRIDAYS @ THE GALLERY.
The museum is closed. Please visit us tomorrow between 10 am and 5 pm.
