All memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable, and approved discounts may only be applied at the time of purchase. Categories, benefits, and prices are subject to change.

Your Membership during Construction

What does construction mean for my membership?
Your current membership benefits will continue until construction begins in late 2019. During the construction period, you can expect an array of new and exciting benefits:

Renewing or joining is the best way both to support and stay connected to the museum as we grow and change. AK Members will receive regular updates about our AK360 Campus Development and Expansion Project.

Will my membership be suspended or put on hold during construction?
Your membership will still be active! Your benefits will extend beyond the museum’s Elmwood Avenue campus in new ways. Please visit our benefits page for more information.

We will continue to welcome new Albright-Knox Members while construction is underway, so please encourage those you know to join and explore exciting new programs and offerings.

What benefits should Members expect to enjoy when the museum reopens?
Members will receive premier access to the museum when construction is complete, including a grand reopening celebration—a truly historic moment for Buffalo and our community.

How can I support the museum during this time?
Renewing or joining as a Member directly funds our efforts to bring inspiring encounters with art to our community. We are now offering an automatic membership renewal option to ensure there is no interruption in your benefits, including announcements of new programs and updates on our expansion.   

You can also make a gift directly to AK360 to help us build the Buffalo Albright-Knox-Gundlach Art Museum.

Becoming a Member

How do I become a member?
You can purchase a membership online, by phone at 716.270.8247, or in the museum at the Admissions Desk.

Do you offer membership discounts?
Yes, we offer discounted Individual and Family memberships for students and seniors (ages 62 and older). Please contact us at 716.270.8247 or membership@albrightknox.org. Or, join online, then send proof of status (photo ID with your date of birth or student ID) to membership@albrightknox.org. Onsite, we also offer a “Buffalo Cultural” discount of 15% to active members of other Western New York area museums, zoos, and aquariums when you present your membership card at purchase.

What level is my membership?
Your membership level is located on the front of your membership card.

Where can I find my Membership ID number?
Your membership ID number is located on the front of your membership card.

How can I update my mailing address or contact information?
To update your contact information, please contact us at 716.270.8247 or membership@albrightknox.org.

Do I need tickets for special exhibitions?
Albright-Knox Members are welcome to visit the museum’s collection and special exhibitions at no charge. However, timed tickets may be required for some special exhibitions. Please see our special exhibition pages for further information.

Is my membership tax-deductible?
Your membership contributions are entirely tax-deductible.

Membership Benefits

Do members receive free admission to museum events?
Albright-Knox Members receive free or discounted admission to events and programs. All Members-only events are free for Members. Members receive discounted admission to classes, workshops, lectures, and much more.

Does my membership get me into other museums?
Albright-Knox Members at the Individual, Family, and Professional levels receive free reciprocal admission to more than 20 museums across New York State through the Empire State Museums Reciprocal Program. Albright-Knox Members at the Associate level and above receive free reciprocal admission to more than 1,000 museums throughout North America through the Empire State Museums Reciprocal Program, Modern and Contemporary Reciprocal Membership Program, North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) Association, Art Museum Reciprocal Network, Museum Alliance Reciprocal Program, and Reciprocal Organization of Associated Museums (ROAM).

Some exceptions may apply. Please contact individual museums directly for information on specific benefits and restrictions. Reciprocal privileges do not include mailings from any participating museums, except for the museum with which the member is affiliated.

Does my membership allow me to bring guests to the museum?
Albright-Knox Members at the Associate level and above receive two or more guest passes, depending on their membership level. Albright-Knox Members at the Sustainer level and above also receive a complimentary Family or Associate membership to share, depending on their membership level. Membership Cards

When will I receive my membership card? Can I use my benefits without my card?
We will ship your membership materials 5–10 business days after your purchase. If it has been more than 10 business days since your payment, please contact us at 716.270.8247 or membership@albrightknox.org. In the meantime, when you visit the museum, please check in at the Admissions Desk and provide your name and a photo ID. Proof of membership is required to receive your Member discount at Shop AK, AK Café, and participating Elmwood Village Discount businesses.

I’ve lost my membership card. How do I get a new one?
Please contact us at 716.270.8247 or membership@albrightknox.org to request replacement cards. In the meantime, when you visit the museum, please check in at the Admissions Desk and provide your name and a photo ID.

Can I give my Membership card to someone else to use?
Membership cards are not transferable. Albright-Knox Members at the Associate level and above receive two or more guest passes, depending on their membership level.

Membership Renewals

How can I renew my membership?
You can renew your membership online, by phone at 716.270.8247, or in the museum at the Admissions Desk. When renewing online, please use the links in the upper right corner to register or sign in; this will ensure that we connect your renewal to your current Albright-Knox Member account.

I have already renewed my membership; why am I still receiving renewal notices?
Your payment and renewal notice may have crossed paths in the mail. To confirm that we have received your membership payment, please contact us at 716.270.8247 or membership@albrightknox.org. Please disregard any notices you receive after your payment has been submitted.

Gift Memberships

Can I purchase a membership as a gift?
Absolutely! Simply check the “This Membership is a gift” box on our membership form and fill in the information for your gift recipient. If the person receiving the membership is already a Member, your gift will add a year to their existing membership.
