Education Exhibition Hallway
The Albright-Knox is proud to present this exhibition of works created by students in the museum’s after-school program, Art on the Go! The featured artworks are by students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 from ten participating schools: Bennett Park Montessori, PS 95 Waterfront Elementary School, PS 67 Discovery School, PS 81 Dr. Antonia Pantoja Community School of Academic Excellence, PS 54 Dr. George E. Blackman School of Excellence Early Childhood Center, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Multicultural Institute, West Buffalo Charter School, PS 31 Harriet Ross Tubman School, North Park Middle Academy, and North Park Community School.
The Albright-Knox’s Art on the Go! program aims to bring greater exposure to the arts with after-school programs across Buffalo. Through a partnership with the Buffalo Public Schools and Say Yes to Education Buffalo, and with support from the Cullen Foundation, the intent of our program is to engage students in interdisciplinary and collaborative projects that focus on the humanities. With the use of Visual Thinking Strategies, students are invited to interpret—through their own lens—artworks from the Albright-Knox’s collection. Open-ended lesson plans enable them to explore these reflections through the creation of their own unique artworks.
Our priority is to present lessons that support student-driven learning, student autonomy, and independence. To balance these goals, we foster collaboration, communication, and cooperation toward a heightened sense of community.
Admission to this exhibition is free on M&T FIRST FRIDAYS @ THE GALLERY
