Modern Masters from the Permanent Collection was the first exhibition of the Albright-Knox's 125th anniversary year. It featured works by Richard Diebenkorn, Jean Dubuffet, Sam Francis, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Frank Stella, Clyfford Still, and Antoni Tapies, and highlighted the remarkable artistic achievements of more than a century.

This exhibition offered the unique opportunity to experience the range and depth of the museum’s own works, while at the same time underscoring the skill and acumen with which a distinguished succession of directors, staff, and boards of directors have guided the institution in striving for excellence in its exhibitions and acquisitions.
